Our home,Shoals Hook House is a spacious 18th Century farm house full of character. It is set in landscaped gardens at the end of a private country lane, just a short walk from the hamlet of Prendergast & the market town of Haverfordwest. We are a 15 minutes walk from Withybush Hospital or 2/3mins drive, which is very convenient if you have an appointment or if you are an agency nurse/doctor working there temporarily. The Haverfordwest small aircraft airport is just a 5 minute drive away and we have had visiting engineers come to stay. We are in a very central location in Pembrokeshire , making it an ideal base to explore this beautiful part of the world, or to just visit your friends and family.
Just a 10 minute walk back down the lane to Prendergast, you will find a traditional award winning butchers, a good Chinese takeaway, fish and chip shop & a local pub, a hairdressers, launderette and a reliable garage. There is a single railway track running past the house built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel where short passenger trains pass with little disturbance to most of our guests as well as the odd goods train connecting the Milford Haven oil refinery.
A 20/25 minute walk or 3/5 minutes drive will take you into the market town of Haverfordwest. There are a few good restaurants/cafés, pubs, and an old charm 1913 cinema, as well as supermarkets, and a retail park.It has great transport links including a main railway station and bus depot for National Express and local buses.
In the summer months, ‘The Puffin Hopper’ provides easy access to the beautiful 186 mile Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the only coastal National Park in the UK , providing the most breathtaking walks.
There are numerous cycle routes, as well as kayaking and windsurfing at the nearby beaches. Visitors can instantly relax and unwind after a day exploring this beautiful part of West Wales in our charming, characterful home and beautiful garden with many different seating areas, where you are welcome to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy our wide variety of woodland birds. We are very sociable, friendly people and love company, but we respect your privacy when you prefer and want to be alone. We look forward to welcoming you.
We no longer offer self catering accommodation within our home.
You will be staying in a bright, characterful, spacious bedroom with beamed ceiling and large window overlooking a pretty patio area. There is a very comfy Victorian style, wrought iron, King size bed with luxurious Super King sized duvet and bedding. A double pine wardrobe and a vintage pine dressing table with drawers and bedside tables with lamps furnish the room. Please note that there is one step to access the room and a wrought iron rail to assist if needed. This has a night time motion light should you need to get up in the night to go to your private bathroom.
The quaint bathroom is separate from the bedroom but for your private use. This has a beautiful, original Victorian farmhouse, roll top bath that we have refurbished, a separate, walk in, tiled shower cubicle with electric shower, a victorian style toilet and sink. The floor has beautiful, original victorian tiles and there is a William Morris roman blind at the window and matching roller blind on the door. Our dining/breakfast room may be used for takeaways and we can supply crockery and cutlery, if needed.
We offer a complimentary, continental breakfast which you can enjoy in our dining room. You also have shared access to our Cosy Snug area. Here you can sit and relax and listen to your own music playlists or favourite radio station by bluetooth connection to our smart speaker, or simply read one of the many books we provide here.
We can provide use of a utility room with washing machine, tumble drier, iron, ironing board and airers. Ideal for tourers, hikers and sports people who may need to wash clothes. Bikes can also be stored/locked up. Fridge /freezer space can be arranged.

We are Vincent & Angela Griffiths originally from south east London, but moved to Pembrokeshire in August 2019. We love to travel. There are so many beautiful places to see on our planet and you can easily overlook what is on your door step. We fell in love with the natural beauty of Pembrokeshire, Its wildlife, history and outstanding beaches. This is the only coastal National Park in the UK covering around 186 miles where you can hike or walk to your hearts content.

Your booking contract is with Angela & Vincent Griffiths Shoals Hook House, Shoals Hook Lane, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA61 2XN. Payment. 25% non refundable deposit payable within 5 days of booking. Full payment due if start date of holiday is within 6 weeks. Balance is due 6 weeks before holiday start date. Cancellation Policy - Outside of 6 weeks of start date loss of deposit or re-book for an agreed later date. Within 6 weeks of start date we will endeavour to re-sell holiday dates and if successful refund the balance paid. If outside of 3 weeks from start date we will provide an option to re-book a later date. Cancellation by us. If we the owners, have to cancel or change your booking due to exceptional personal circumstances, then we would provide a full refund or give an option to change the date. Complaints. In the unlikely event, of any issues of complaint during your stay, please advise us personally, at the earliest opportunity, as we are usually on site.
